Early Life
Dia Mirza was born in Hyderabad, India. Her father, Frank Handrich, is a German designer and artist based in Munich. Her mother, Deepa, hails from Bengal and works as an interior designer and landscaper, and she also supports individuals dealing with alcohol and drug issues. Mirza’s parents separated when she was four and a half years old. Her mother later remarried Ahmed Mirza from Hyderabad, and Dia adopted her stepfather’s surname. Sadly, Ahmed Mirza passed away in 2004.
Dia initially attended Vidyaranya High School before transferring to Nasr School, a girls’ day school in Khairtabad. She then proceeded to Stanley Junior College and later obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from Ambedkar Open University in Hyderabad.

Career
While attending college, Dia Mirza worked as a marketing executive at Neeraj’s Multi-media Studio and modeled for brands like Lipton, Wall’s ice cream, and Emami. In 2000, she achieved second runner-up status at the Miss India pageant and later won the Miss Asia Pacific title.
Mirza’s acting career began with the film Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, directed by Gautham Menon. She has appeared in numerous films, including Alag, Dum, Deewaanapan, and Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge. Some of her notable performances include portraying Manyata Dutt in the biopic Sanju and starring in the critically acclaimed film Thappad in 2020.
Mirza also explored the digital space by featuring in the ZEE5 web series Kaafir in 2019 alongside Mohit Raina. In 2011, she co-founded Born Free Entertainment with her then-husband Sahil Sangha, producing projects such as Love Breakups Zindagi, Bobby Jasoos, and the web series Mind the Malhotras. In 2019, she announced the launch of a new production house, “One India Stories,” dedicated to creating original content.
Apart from her entertainment career, Mirza is actively involved in humanitarian efforts. She narrated an environmental podcast about a snow leopard named Layla for Run Wild, a collaboration between Runtastic, the UN Environmental Programme, and the Internet of Elephants.

Personal Life
In April 2014, Mirza became engaged to her longtime business partner, Sahil Sangha. They married on October 18, 2014, at his farmhouse in Chhatarpur, South Delhi. However, they announced their separation in August 2019.
On February 15, 2021, Mirza married businessman Vaibhav Rekhi in Bandra, Mumbai. She revealed her pregnancy on April 1, 2021, and on July 14, 2021, announced the premature birth of her son, Avyaan Azaad Rekhi, born on May 14. Avyaan spent two months in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Mirza is also a stepmother to Vaibhav Rekhi’s daughter, Samaira Rekhi, from his previous marriage.
