Amulya, born as Moulya in Bengaluru, Karnataka, has a rich family background. Her father worked as a head clerk at Seshadripuram Main College until his passing in 2009. She lives with her mother, Jayalaksmi, a housewife, in Bangalore. Amulya also has an older brother, Deepak Aras, who directed her 2011 film Manasology.
Her acting journey began at the age of six when she appeared in the Kannada television soap opera Supta Manasina Sapta Swaragalu. Amulya describes her childhood as quite active, as she balanced sports, music, and academics. During her school years, she trained in Bharatanatyam and earned a green belt in Karate. She completed her pre-university course in commerce at Mount Carmel College in Bangalore, where she later earned a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) degree in 2014.
Career
Amulya made her film debut as a child artist in the 2001 Kannada movie Parva, which starred Vishnuvardhan in the lead role. Her first major role as a lead actress came in the 2007 film Cheluvina Chittara, where she starred opposite Ganesh; the film was a commercial success. Following that, she appeared in Chaitrada Chandrama, Premism, Naanu Nanna Kanasu, and Manasology, which had moderate box office performances or underperformed. However, her acting received critical praise during this time.
After taking a two-year break, Amulya returned to the big screen in 2013 with the hit film Shravani Subramanya, again starring alongside Ganesh. In the same year, her co-star Ganesh affectionately dubbed her the “Golden Queen.” This film also won her the Filmfare Award for Best Actress, marking a significant milestone in her career.
In 2015, Amulya starred in Khushi Khushiyagi, where she was paired with Ganesh for the third time. Her portrayal of Nandini garnered positive reviews, with critics noting similarities to her earlier role in Shravani Subramanya. In the film Male, she took on a tomboyish character named Varsha, paired with Prem Kumar. Her second release of that year was Ramleela. Amulya had portrayed the role of Chandrakala, the sister of a don, and the romantic interest of Chiranjeevi Sarja. The film, however, received a mixed response from critics.
In early 2016, she was reported to have been approached for a role in Mass Leader, where she would play the sister of Shiva Rajkumar, directed by Sahana Murthy. Additionally, she confirmed her participation in Nagashekar’s Maasti Gudi, where she would star opposite Duniya Vijay.

Amulya Brother Death
Amulya’s brother, Deepak Aras, a well-known Kannada film director, tragically passed away at the age of 42 on October 17, 2024, due to kidney failure.
