Amy Louise Jackson was born on January 31st, 1992 in Douglas. Her parents, Marguerita and Alan Jackson, hailed from Liverpool. Amy has an older sister, Alicia, who works as a teacher. When Amy was two, her family returned to Liverpool, settling in the suburb of Woolton, to support her father’s career with BBC Radio Merseyside. Sadly, her parents later divorced.
Amy attended St Edward’s College in West Derby, where she initially planned to pursue A-Levels in English literature, philosophy, and ethics. However, her path shifted dramatically when she was discovered for her first film role.
Amy’s journey began in Douglas, but her family’s move to Liverpool marked a significant transition. Despite her parents’ divorce, Amy focused on her studies at St Edward’s College. She was determined to further her education with A-Levels in English literature, philosophy, and ethics.
Unexpectedly, Amy’s talent caught the attention of filmmakers, leading to her first role in the film industry. In 2010, she won the Miss Liverpool title and finished as the runner-up in the Miss England competition.
Her film industry break came unexpectedly when Indian producers discovered her through the Miss Teen World website. Despite having no prior acting experience, she landed the lead role in the Tamil period-drama Madrasapattinam (2010). Set in 1947, the film received praise for her performance, marking her successful debut.
Amy entered Hindi cinema in 2011 with Ekk Deewana Tha (2012), earning acclaim for her role opposite Prateik Babbar. She returned to Tamil cinema with Thaandavam (2012), showcasing her range as an actress.
Her Telugu film debut came with Yevadu (2014), and she followed this with a significant role as supermodel Diya in Shankar’s I (2015). Amy’s career continued to flourish with roles in Singh Is Bliing (2015) alongside Akshay Kumar, Thanga Magan (2015), Gethu (2016), and Theri (2016).
In 2017, Amy made her Hollywood debut, playing Imra Ardeen, also known as Saturn Girl, in the third season of Supergirl. She explored Kannada cinema with The Villain (2018) and portrayed the andro-humanoid robot Nila in Shankar’s 2.0 (2018).
