Early Life
Drashti Dhami was born on January 10, 1985, in Mumbai to a Punjabi family. She grew up in Mumbai and completed her schooling at Mary Immaculate Girl’s High School. She later pursued a degree in sociology from Mithibai College.
Before modeling, she worked as a dance instructor. Despite coming from a conservative family, she faced and overcame numerous challenges to follow her passion for the arts. In an interview with The Times of India, she revealed that getting permission to participate in her first music video required approval from ten family members. Her cousin was instrumental in persuading their relatives to support her ambition.
On February 21, 2015, Dhami married businessman Neeraj Khemka in a traditional Hindu ceremony. Her sister-in-law, Suhasi Dhami, who is also an actress, is married to Dhami’s elder brother, Jaisheel Dhami. Drashti has expressed deep gratitude for the encouragement and support she receives from her in-laws concerning her career.

Drashti Dhami’s journey in the entertainment industry began with modeling for print and TV ads. She appeared in music videos such as “Saiyyan Dil Mein Aana Re,” “Humko Aaj Kal Hai,” “Teri Meri Nazar Ki Dori,” and “Nachle Soniyo Tu.” Additionally, she featured in commercials for brands like Colgate, Lion Honey, Amul, and others.
Her acting debut on television was on Star One’s popular show Dill Mill Gayye, where she played Dr. Muskaan Chadda from 2007 to 2009. Dhami gained wider recognition with her role as Geet in Star One’s Geet – Hui Sabse Parayi, which concluded in December 2011.
