Prior to her debut in the film industry with “Fugly” in 2014, Alia changed her first name to Kiara. She mentioned in an interview that the inspiration for her new name came from Priyanka Chopra’s character in “Anjaana Anjaani” (2010). The name change was suggested by Salman Khan to avoid confusion with the actress Alia Bhatt.

Kiara’s breakthrough came in 2019 with “Kabir Singh,” co-starring Shahid Kapoor. The film received mixed reviews due to its portrayal of toxic masculinity but became her highest-grossing film. She also starred in the comedy “Good Newwz,” which was a commercial hit.
